Beginning the campaign on a winning note, Odisha crushed Bengal in the East Zone BCCI Under-19 women’s Cricket Championship which took off at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Dhanbad today.
The Odisha eves registered an easy win over their neighbours on the opening day.
Electing to bat first, the Bengal batsmen fell like a pack of cards and were bundled out for 123 runs in 49.4 overs. Odisha bowlers took advantage of the overcast conditions and bowled aggressively to exploit the conditions. Only three Bengal batsmen reached double digits– Tanushree Sarkar (33), PP Paul (20) and Dipu Das.
Chasing a modest total, Odisha humbled Bengal by six wickets.
Odisha captain Debyadarshini was the top performer of her team with 3 wickets in her kitty and scored an unbeaten 27 runs.
