After a series of expose on the babas in the state, the tale of Odisha's own god-woman Premamayi Krishna Mata has come to the fore.
This controversial Chandrika Premamayi Devi Krishna Mata alias Sarojini Jena also started her journey as a tailor and climbed up the ladders to become a Mata now.
Her ashram named 'Brahmashetra Sri Achyuta Dham' near Chaulia ganj Deer Park in Cuttack that was built on a 23 decimal encroached government property.

From last few days, this ashram wears a desert look with barely a couple of men seen guarding it. The gates have been locked from inside.
Krishna mata alias Sarojini Jena originally from Kendrapara area, come to Cuttack for the purpose of work around 1985-86. She initially stayed at the house of Late Padmanabh Behera's Mangala Sahi House where she learnt tailoring.
Six or seven years into tailoring, Sarojini worked in the shope of an established businessman. Soon the businessman's son got involved and insisted to marrying her. But the businessman did not agree with this proposal and got Sarojini married to another man in his shop named 'Tabat'.

The newly wed couple shifted to a rented house in Petin sahi for a while before another man named Sanjay Das alias Pupa entered in the life of Sarojini. After some months, Sarojini slowly started transforming herself into a god woman and introducing herself as Premamayi Krishna Mata.
Her first ashram came up near Shivaji Nagar area of Tulsipur shelter square with the help of Pupa and her ashram started moving from place to place a while and finally to her permanent ashram near deer park that was built on govt. land.
There is a long history of violence associated with the ashram and the controversial Krishna Mata. so everything will come to the front only through a proper police investigation.
